Go For Launch

We got to see the shuttle take off this morning, and it. Was. AWESOME! It’s a sunny day here in Central Florida, and Kevin is taking an unpacking day, so he got to see it, too. I have officially finished everything I have to do (with the exception of a couple more loads of laundry), so I think I’m going to spend the rest of the day lounging by the pool (sorry to all you Texans that are a little chilly right now). Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a tropical drink calling my name.

Progress

I have *finally* managed to catch up on boxes, and I’m making steady progress on laundry. The only clutter left in the living room is stuff that Kevin is in charge of (all the electronics and stuff). I don’t have the first clue what to do with that stuff, so he’s on his own. We also have a few pictures left to hang on the walls, but that’s really about it. Tomorrow, I’m planning on tackling the upstairs rooms, but those are pretty easy, and should only take me a day. We bought a new sofa and loveseat yesterday, and they’ll be here tomorrow. I’ll have pictures up by the end of the week!

We’re Here

And I couldn’t have made it without Camille. Seriously. There are no words to express just how blessed we are to have her as our friend. She made the long drive seem easy and quick, she played mommy to my dogs (who are right now wondering where she is), she helped me figure out where stuff is gonna go in our new house, and she totally went along for the ride at Epcot (even though I know that secretly she didn’t really want to go, but I think she had a good time). The movers will be here in a couple of minutes, and then I get to spend the day with them, Terminix, and DirecTV, but after today, all I have to concentrate on is settling in. I’ll start unpacking just as soon as they start off-loading boxes, and hopefully, I’ll be done by the end of the weekend. Which will be perfect, since I’m totally hounding Kevin into taking me back to the Mouse’s House next weekend.

But really? In case I haven’t said it enough (and I haven’t): Thanks, Camille. You rock!

Moving Day

It’s 7:00 AM, and the movers will be here in about an hour. Now it’s starting to get a little surreal…..

It’s About That Time

All boxes are packed, the fridge has been unplugged, the last load of laundry has been done. Good-byes have been said, and I’ve started to load the truck. The movers will be here tomorrow. So today, I’m going to do as little as possible. Maybe spend some time on YouTube (because it’s still funny to watch Benny Lava). I’m gonna relax a little bit before it’s time to hit the road. Kev comes in tonight, and I’m really glad he’ll be the one to deal with the movers. Tomorrow and Sunday are going to be LOOOOOOONG days.

Go Cuban, It’s Your Birthday

Yep. I totally voted for Mark and Kym. You’ve gotta respect a guy who just had a hip replacement and is now dancing the Jive. Besides…..I figure it’s my duty as a Texan. And yes, I know…in four more days I won’t technically live here anymore, but as they say: “You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl”. Go Mark!

Movers in Five Days

And I’m pretty sure I have everything just about ready. I still have to pack up Kevin’s stuff in the storage shed, and a few last minute things, but for the most part, I’m done. Drawers are empty, cupboards are bare, so really the only thing left is pretty much sheets and towels. I can’t even tell you how ready I am to be done with all of this.

October=Boobies

Go on. You know you want to. You want to look at the boobies. You DO. Fortunately for you, it’s time once again for Boobiethon. Run right over there and donate. And look at boobies. C’mon. All the cool kids are doing it….

I Put The Goat in There

Wow. Just wow.

Eleven Days

In eleven days, my husband will be home for the last time. In twelve days, the movers will come and pack up the moving truck and take our stuff across the country to Florida. In thirteen days, my husband will fly back to Orlando, and I’ll drive to Tyler to pick up Camille. I will walk out of my house for the last time. I will cross the Texas state line, and I’ll probably cry. In thirteen days, I will be leaving my life behind. I will be leaving my friends, and my family. I will be leaving thirty-two years of roots. But.

In fourteen days, we will be in our new house. We will be in our new state, in our new city. In fourteen days, I will begin to make new friends, and new connections. Most importantly, in fourteen days, there will be an end to this horrible separation. I will be with my husband, and we will be able to concentrate on beginning our new life. In the meantime, there is still some packing to do, and friends to see.

So for the next eleven days, I’m going to concentrate on spending time with the people who I won’t get to see as often. I’m going to be grateful that I have a support system that transcends distance. I’m going to count each and every one of my blessings. And I have a feeling that the next eleven days are going to fly by.
