California, Here We Come
Well, we haven’t been anywhere in about 2 months, so we figured it was time to pack up and head out. i have to go to San Francisco on business the first week of August, and I somehow managed to talk Kevin into joining me for a long weekend, once all my work has been done. We had to compromise on our accomodations, however; I wanted to stay at the W, and Kev had his heart set on the St. Francis, so we’ve ended up making reservations at both.
Does anybody have any suggestions for what to do/see/eat while we’re there? Of course we’re doing the Alcatraz thing, but I’m looking for something a little more off-the-beaten-path. Email me with anything you can think of!

Are you going to be staying in the city? I mean, the standards apply. Trolley ride, Ghiradelli Square, Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, Coit Tower. That’s all of the touristy stuff. You could also go to Sausalito (just over the golden gate bridge). Some good restaurants. Bix (expensive, but good food, kinda retro in the 20’s sort of way), The Farallon is another good one. I could go on and on. If you head out of the city, Half Moon Bay is nice. We go to Half Moon Bay all the time.

Where’s the love for San Diego?

As always, the perpetual offer for a personal bag-boy stands. 😉
Sounds like you’re getting a well deserved vacation. Much good.
The next question is, when to the East coast?

I don’t know if it’s too late, Merrin, but try looking at LJCFYI’s blog–she had some great responses to this very question–just scroll backwards, it’s hard to miss!
