No, Really
So here’s all the news in the world of books. Okay, all the interesting news. Take it from me, I do this for a living.
1) It seems that J.K. Rowling has indeed finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. For the latest rumors, check this out. It’s reputable, I swear. Don’t get your hopes up too high, though. I really don’t expect it before March, or I would know about it. Just in case, check back next week after I get back from Nashville.
2) If you haven’t heard yet, Dave Eggers isn’t releasing his latest book to “Superstores”. Fans will only be able to purchase the novel through an online source. I guess he’s trying to prove he’s not in it for the money, and that’s too bad, since I personally worked very hard to sell A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. My opinion? He’s cutting off his nose to spite his face.
3) And finally, ARTHUR GOLDEN has finally sold his second novel. No news yet as to the subject, let alone a title, but I’m working on getting more details. Now’s a good time to go and read Memoirs of a Geisha, quite possibly the finest book ever written. And if you doubt the appeal, know this: the film rights have been optioned, and production begun, by none other than Steven Spielberg. Who’s your daddy?
