Thank You, Mr. Linksys

Once again our unsuspecting neighbor has come to our rescue. After a nasty little storm on Saturday night, we seem to have lost our internet connection. Endless fiddling with the modem did no good (side note: GOD I MISS FIOS!!!!), so Kevin called the guys to come out and take a look. Of course this means waiting three days until they can come out and fix it.

Fast forward to today…The cable guy showed up right after 3:00 this afternoon (the window was anywhere from 3-6). He took a look at the modem and said “I’m going outside to look at the cable. Be right back”. That was an hour and a half ago. His truck is still out front, so I know he’s out there, but seriously? Nothing? After 90 minutes? Bonus: It’s about to start raining, so I don’t think our little problem is going to be fixed anytime today.

So just to repeat: Mr. Linksys, I know you have no clue about securing your internet connection, and for that, we thank you!

nice. i mean about the mr. linksys. my neighbor and i have an agreement to share if we need to. once his wife came running over to make sure it was okay (before the agreement) because his fantasy football draft was live and their connection was down. we’ve done the same with them. it’s all about community!

You have it all wrong, Rob. The dude has open wireless and doesn’t know (or care). I wish it was as altruistic as you suggest.

The good news is… the cable was repaired and all back & running.

Not so fast there, chief. It would appear that the cable is once again hosed.
