Da Vinci and the Devine
ABC is airing this special tonight. Fans of The Da Vinci Code are celebrating all over the country. All over, that is, except in the DFW market. Our local affiliate is choosing, instead, to air Dale Hansen Roasted.
However, the power and the beauty that is Tivo once again prevails, since it seems that the show will indeed air—-at 3:15 tomorrow morning. Thank you Tivo. Networks piss me off.

I just missed it, I guess. 🙁 I checked TiVo, and it’s not on the radar. But I did find something call “Jesus and Hutch” that’s a spoof of “Starsky and Hutch.” Probably won’t be an culturally enriching, though. haha

One day, I hope that all TV content will become like web content. You want to watch “Friends”? Just contact NBC’s content server and download it. You can watch it now, or you can watch it later. Ratings will be based on hits rather than statistical sampling. Maybe it will be subscription based and you won’t have to watch any commercials. Maybe all the crummy daytime “Judge” shows will disappear. TV Utopia. Let’s make it happen. 🙂

I would definitely pay for that, Brian. I think it’s crazy that we pay for cable/dish and still have to see commercials all the time…

Here’s my $0.02:
I don’t mind good commercials. I don’t mind commercials when the sponsor is buying the whole show. I watch ’em, even with Tivo. What I hate are the ridiculous crap commercials. Why would I want to watch another Mr. Clean ad?!
Tivo monitors what commercials people watch and which ones they don’t. You would be shocked to learn that most Tivo users watch most of the commercials in a show. Essentially, they are just time shifting the entire programming block.
For what it’s worth, just imagine what your cable bill might be if there wasn’t any advertising and everything was pay!!
PS – No one should have to pay for Friends. That’s just wrong. It’s bad enough that people watch it for free.
