Ah, There It Is
I have once again found my bitterness. It was on hiatus a while, and I thought I had banished it for good (or at least for a little longer), but, alas, it has returned. Allow me to pose a question:
When attempting to meet a goal, do you respond better to positive motivation or constant dread?
To phrase it differently, allow me to borrow a quote from Office Space:
“When I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That’s my only real motivation—not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.”
So which is it: positive and constructive, or critical and destructive?

constructive of course!

I’ve always tried to take the constructive approach, too. Apparently, there are some powers-that-be who seem to disagree.

Postive and Consturctive only. If people are overly critical and destructive, then I put the task off as long as I can. If the hassle me about it, it goes even longer. Eventually they get the hint that i’m not going todo what ever it is until they back off.
